We want readers to know how we decide what to cover, what evidence we require, and what happens when we get something wrong. These standards apply to our news, comparisons, guides, and newsletters.
How we choose stories
We begin with a reader question: what changed, why does it matter, and what should someone understand or do next? We pursue stories when we can add useful reporting, comparison, or context. We pass on announcements that do not support a clear and consequential story.
How we report
We prefer primary sources such as release notes, technical documentation, research papers, court records, official datasets, and direct statements. We use independent reporting and analysis to test the context around those sources. We link to source material whenever it is public and safe to share.
We attribute information to its source, distinguish facts from analysis, and state meaningful uncertainty. We do not invent quotations, measurements, testing, personal experience, scenes, or conversations.
Bylines
Articles published under the Frontier Models Desk byline are issued by Frontier Models rather than attributed to an individual contributor. Questions and corrections can be sent to hello@frontiermodels.com.
Comparisons and numbers
We explain where numbers came from, what was measured, and what the comparison can and cannot show. We do not present a vendor's result as our own test. When figures from different sources are not directly comparable, we say so rather than force them into a ranking.
Review before publication
Every story goes through a separate review for its central claims, sources, quotations, context, internal consistency, and clarity. We check that the headline is supported by the article and that a new reader can understand why the story matters. If the evidence is too weak, we narrow the story, delay it, or do not publish it.
Images, charts, and other elements
We use charts when verified and comparable numbers explain a relationship better than prose. We include sources, methodology, and an accessible data table. We credit licensed photographs and source material according to their terms. Screenshots, quotations, timelines, and other elements must add evidence or understanding.
Independence and conflicts
We make editorial decisions independently. We do not accept payment in return for favorable coverage. When a financial, personal, or commercial relationship could reasonably affect how readers view a story, we disclose it clearly.
Corrections
