This special version of the Porsche 935 was extensively modified by a private team for the famous race on the Daytona circuit in the U.S. during the 1980 season. Though maintaining the appearance of the original German automobile, the modifications to the aerodynamics and to the systems were so extensive that the car was not officially considered an evolution of the original vehicle. During the 24 hours of continuous competition, the car held front-running positions right from the start of the race and finished the challenge victoriously, demonstrating excellent characteristics of reliability worthy of the cars lined up by the official teams.
